The Team

Cultural Gardens is the brainchild of
Sarah, who is dedicated to all things CULTURAL,
and Agus, who specialises in all things GARDEN.

Hi, I’m Sarah!

I’m passionate about music, nature, books, languages, natural health and healthy eating, and I love to travel. I’m a writer, a musician, a mum of an adventurous little boy, and I love to rock climb, swim and mountain bike.

I worked for many years as a journalist, including three years in South America, and am fluent in Spanish. I ran my own magazine on organic food and natural health. I’m a professional media and communications adviser and am skilled in project management and event management.

I play the saxophone in two bands, and volunteer on the committee of one of those bands. I truly believe that music makes the world a better place.

My father has a deep connection to the red country around Byrock in western New South Wales and a strong, spiritual connection to the Aboriginal culture of the Ngiyampaa people, as the traditional owners of that land.

I hope to continue in the footsteps of my elders by inspiring connection with Country and love for Gunni Thukkan (Mother Earth).

Hi there!

I am Agus, the lucky mum of two gorgeous children and a furry puppy. I am a horticulturist, a nature lover, a sustainability cheerleader, an expat, a dreamer, an involved community member, and a social justice advocator.

I was born in Argentina, where I had the privilege of having the most incredible grandad who showed me how to love, connect and respect our planet. I couldn’t think of a better way to honour him than by becoming a horticulturalist.

I moved to Australia in 2012 following the call of love and since then, my life has never stopped surprising me with new adventures.

When I am not designing indigenous spaces for Cultural Gardens, I spend my days getting my hands dirty in my urban farm, playing with my children and puppy and planning camping trips all over Australia.

My dream is to inspire this young generation to have a true love for Country.

I am terrifically excited to start this new chapter and I can’t wait to spread this burning passion with you!

Turtle picture at Ngunnhu festival by Ngiyampaa elder Uncle Peter Williams

The Artwork

Our logo was designed by Raul Garderes and was based on this painting by Ngiyampaa artist Uncle Peter Williams. The painting was gifted to Sarah by Uncle Peter some 20 years earlier and has hung on her wall ever since.

The painting represents the ‘Ngunnhu’ (fish traps) in Brewarrina, NSW and the ‘Wirru waramba’, the middle section of the fish traps where the flat water is and where the turtles are. The campsites around the turtle are about all the mobs coming together for the Ngunnhu festival.

We like to think of the campsites as being representative of our work at Cultural Gardens bringing all the mobs together to share in culture and connect with Country.

We are incredibly honoured and humbled that Uncle Peter has allowed us to use his artwork for our business.
